Role Description
Fair Climate Fund India (FCF India) works towards building equitable, community-focused, and sustainable climate solutions through carbon markets and climate finance. Our work supports low-carbon and climate-resilient pathways for rural communities, enabling them to benefit directly from fair and transparent carbon value chains.
We are seeking a dynamic and self-driven Manager – Business Development to strengthen our partnerships and expand FCF India’s climate action portfolio. The position plays a strategic role in driving new business across decarbonization, carbon insetting, sustainability consulting, and climate training and capacity-building initiatives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead Market and Opportunity Scanning: Continuously scan and identify new business opportunities in carbon markets, decarbonization projects, and sustainability services, focusing on private sector, government, multilateral, and bilateral platforms.
- RFP, EOI, and Proposal Management: Take full ownership of responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Expressions of Interest (EOIs), and other business solicitations including preparation, coordination, and delivery of concept notes, pitch decks, and comprehensive proposals.
- Strategic Partnership Development: Build and nurture strategic partnerships with government agencies (central and state), corporates, climate funds, international organizations, and NGOs to develop collaborative climate and sustainability initiatives.
- Business Growth & Client Engagement: Engage closely with clients and stakeholders to understand their sustainability and decarbonization needs and tailor solutions—including carbon insetting and climate finance projects—to support their objectives.
- Project Design & Technical Input Support: Collaborate with technical teams to translate client and stakeholder needs into viable projects by contributing to design, feasibility assessment, and project structuring for climate and carbon initiatives.
- Stakeholder Coordination & Networking: Represent FCF India in sector forums, government consultations, and donor meetings to enhance visibility, credibility, and outreach for business development.
- Knowledge Management & Communication: Develop and maintain business development collateral, briefing notes, presentations, and marketing materials. Support external communications and track market trends to inform strategy.
- Pipeline and Proposal Tracking: Maintain a robust pipeline of business opportunities, track all stages of proposal development and submission, and provide regular updates to senior management.
- Capacity Building & Technical Assistance: Support initiatives related to training, capacity building, and consultancy services on climate, sustainability, and carbon finance to expand FCF’s service offerings.
Qualifications:
Postgraduate degree in Business Administration, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, or Climate Policy.
4–6 years of professional experience in business development, partnerships, or consulting within the sustainability, climate, or development sector.
Proven experience in preparing concept notes, proposals, and RFP responses for government and multilateral clients.
Strong understanding of climate finance, carbon market mechanisms, and sustainability frameworks.
Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work proactively and independently, managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Willingness to travel nationally for business development and project coordination.
